For our client, a global leader in the insurance and reinsurance industry, we are looking for an experienced Senior Application Engineer to contribute to the development of a modern financial data platform built on Azure. You will work closely with product owners, architects, and data engineers to deliver business-critical services used for accounting and reporting processes.

• Duration: Until end of 2025 (extension or internalization possible)

Requirements

• Design, develop, and implement backend services for a modern Azure-based lakehouse architecture.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions using Python and PySpark.
• Take end-to-end ownership of application architecture and drive scalable implementation of financial data processing services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business, IT, and DevOps to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Ensure strong test automation and contribute to continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD).
• Support quarterly closing cycles and ensure smooth operation of applications.
• Coach junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.

Competences

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally in financial services.
• Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
• Solid understanding of Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Spark-based environments.
• Proven experience in full software development lifecycle, test-driven development, and agile methodologies.
• Good knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English (German is an advantage).
