Job summary

EF Education First AG is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer in Zürich. You will lead by shipping, shape engineering practices for AI-native workflows, and build production-grade AI-enabled features across student and staff experiences.

You will partner with product and design from day one, setting technical direction and ensuring quality, security, and privacy across jurisdictions. The role demands 5+ years in software engineering or technical delivery, with experience in AI stacks, LLMs, and

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience.
Experience with AI technology stack, full-stack development, or frontier Large Language Models (LLMs).
Concrete evidence of using AI creatively in your work.
Product judgment and willingness to change a product decision based on data.
Record of leading as an individual contributor and setting direction.
Breadth across the stack with depth in building with LLMs.
Clear, direct communication with non-engineers across markets and time zones.
Experience shipping LLM features to users, including evaluation and latency management.
Background in consumer booking, e-commerce or mobile products at scale.
Experience in a company where product needs differ by market.

Responsibilities

Build hands-on; architect and optimize complex workloads with emphasis on latency and security.
Redefine workflows to ship projects quickly and iteratively.
Integrate AI into the product where it makes sense and evaluate outcomes.
Work with product and design from discovery; share ownership of outcomes.
Lead without managing; define technical direction and unblock engineers.
Maintain quality with testing, security, and privacy for student data.
