ETH AI Center seeks an AI for Science Engineer to build frontier AI systems that help ETH researchers accelerate their work. You will partner with labs to design agentic pipelines, plan and orchestrate simulations, curate data, and enable researchers to steer AI experiments.

The role emphasizes shipping solutions, not just infrastructure, with a global research scope and collaboration with external partners. Excellent engineering and communication are essential.

Formación

• PhD or MSc with strong research and engineering experience.
• Experience building end-to-end AI systems for science or research settings.
• Strong software engineering, data pipelines, containers, CI/CD.

Responsabilidades

• Identify high-impact use cases with ETH labs and co-develop pipelines.
• Build planning/orchestration components for executable workflows.
• Make runs traceable and results reproducible for scientists.
• Assist data preparation, model fine-tuning, distillation, and efficient inference.
• Contribute to evaluation/benchmarking of AI systems on scientific tasks.
• Develop reusable recipes and templates for others to build on.
• Keep at the frontier of agentic AI and prototype new patterns.
• Contribute to teaching and student projects.
