Title: Business Architect
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: 12 Months

Description

This Business Architect role will work in partnership with ITS, Supply Chain Ontario, and vendor partners to support the deployment, implementation, and migration of telecommunications and network services through:

  1. Providing technical design and expert advice in telecommunications services network design.
  2. Development of the Request for Bids technical requirements including technology pilots and proof of concepts that will integrate with the existing and future OPS network environments.
  3. Act as an implementation resource for products and services.

This Business Architect role will also work in partnership with ITS, Cyber Security, and Ministries and Clusters to support the development of a procurement for a fully managed service through:

  1. The development of the technical requirements for the procurement of the fully managed service.

Key Responsibilities:

This resource would provide expert technical designs, interconnectivity scenarios across OPS locations, security consultation and integration, and provide vendor negotiation skills to ensure connectivity to existing networks and the public switched telephony networks (PSTN). They will provide expert technical design in large scale (+1000 site) networks in evaluating WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, complex routing, voice quality, rate centre long distance implications, Session Border Control (Client) interworking, inbound and outbound call routing, Software Defined Networking (SD-WAN) performance characteristics.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements
Evaluation Breakdown

1. Level of Data and Voice Network Architecture Expertise - 30%
Parameters:
  • 10+ years of experience evaluating, analyzing, and developing data and voice networks in large scale (1,000+ site) networks.
  • 10+ years of experience working for a telecommunications services provider in lead technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience in architecture and design authority, and 8+ years expertise in MPLS/BGP routing, QoS deployment to support multimedia networking, WiFi deployment at enterprise scale, experience with Carrier Interconnect strategies and deployment, IP addressing and Autonomous System (AS) design and deployment.
  • Demonstrate 5+ years experience in OPS architecture and GO-ITS standards.
2. Expertise with OPS Enterprise Architecture - 20%
Parameters:
  • Extensive experience preparing and analyzing complex telecommunications services Enterprise Architecture and presenting to senior level IT and Cyber Security executives.
3. Expertise Working with Multi-Disciplinary Teams - 20%
Parameters:
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, excellent knowledge of ITS process, operations and organization, expert ability to explain complicated network design across the OPS organization including Ministries and Clusters.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Must Haves:
  • 10+ years of experience evaluating, analyzing, and developing data and voice networks in large scale (1,000+ site) networks.
  • Hands-on experience in architecture and design authority, and 8+ years expertise in MPLS/BGP routing, QoS deployment to support multimedia networking, WiFi deployment at enterprise scale, experience with Carrier Interconnect strategies and deployment, IP addressing and Autonomous System (AS) design and deployment.
