Temporary Bus Driver (1.0 FTE)

Start Date: September 2, 2025 - June 7, 2026 (maternity leave coverage)

• Bus Driver's endorsement (School Bus “S”) class 5 – Chinook provides training and expense reimbursement for candidates without an “S” endorsement
• Clean driver's abstract
• Ability to interact tactfully and cooperatively with the public, students, and staff
• Good physical condition
• Basic computer skills

• Transporting students safely
• Daily driving during student attendance
• Daily disinfecting and cleaning of the bus
• Adhering to safe bus driving procedures
• Following all Personal Protective Equipment protocols

• Pay range: $14,692.70 to $15,909.36 base wage + $0.2205 per KM (over 80 km driven), with estimated route KM of 114 daily. All bus drivers are considered to have a four-hour workday unless operating a double route, which extends to five hours.

3. Upload a resume, cover letter, and three references.
4. Apply to the specific job posting after creating your profile.
5. Attach a signed SGI Driver Abstract Authorization form.
6. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
7. Following a conditional job offer, candidates must obtain their “S” Endorsement.

1. Pick up a driver handbook from SGI or the transportation department.
2. Submit a medical exam to SGI.
3. Book and pass the written exam with SGI.
4. Arrange driver training with Chinook’s Driver Assessor.
5. Complete the road test with SGI.
6. Send proof of “S” Endorsement to Human Resources.
