Purpose
The main purpose of this position is the management of network infrastructure, VoIP infrastructure, inventory management, second and third line support (Tier 2 and 3), network monitoring applications and tools.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma in Information Communication Technology or equivalent qualification
- N+, Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Driver’s license
- Willingness to work outside of normal working hours
- Three to four years of related experience
Recommendations
- Experience implementing and supporting secure network infrastructure solutions
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching, including routers, gateways, firewalls, VPNs
- Experience in complex MPLS and Unified Communications environments
- In-depth knowledge of QoS, IP Sec, multicast, and load balancing techniques
- Medium to large Cisco network experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Install and configure network infrastructure systems
- Perform installation, setup, configuration, upgrade, troubleshooting, and remedial maintenance for enterprise network infrastructure
- Prepare and maintain documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts
- Design, deploy, and administer wireless infrastructure and supporting systems
- Connect relevant technology to the network using secure protocols
Maintain, repair, and upgrade network infrastructure
- Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment
- Train team members on new hardware or software
- Analyze and monitor server security, and implement patches or fixes to address security vulnerabilities
- Provide on-call and weekend support as needed
Diagnose and resolve network issues
- Research and recommend automated and innovative system administration approaches
- Proactively seek upgrades and changes to improve network performance and add value to the educational project at SPU
Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
- Monitor network performance using analytical data to identify issues
- Research and implement best practices
- Communicate and consult with relevant stakeholders
