We are working on Journal, a fault-tolerant, high-performance, durable log service that commits over 100 million transactions per second at scale. By joining our team, you’ll help design, develop, and maintain systems that form the bedrock of data durability and availability within AWS. You will collaborate with other top engineers to ensure our services remain resilient, cost-effective, and capable of handling microsecond-level latencies.

In this role, you’ll take part in defining technical roadmaps, delivering production-grade features on time, and guiding peers through design reviews and best practices. You’ll also stay on the cutting edge of emerging technologies, mentoring fellow engineers and constantly raising the bar for engineering excellence in distributed systems.

Job Type: AWS Software Development

Pay Range: $150,700 – $251,700 (based on experience, skills, and knowledge)

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
