Your Opportunity:
Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your Physiotherapy training and experience while making a real impact on the lives of Albertans fighting cancer? Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) is currently searching for a Physiotherapist II (PTII) to join our team at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre (GPCC). Our state-of-the-art cancer care centre provides specialized, local cancer treatment and rehabilitation services to patients in northern Alberta.

The PTII will thrive within a supportive, interdisciplinary oncology team that is dedicated to ensuring safe, efficient, evidence-based, patient and family-centered, outpatient rehabilitative care. The PTII, Team Lead is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients as well as development, implementation and evaluation of treatment programs according to professional practice standards, program development and evaluation, student supervision, staff education, coordination and communication between clinical and management teams, mentorship and program development. Our team of passionate health care professionals are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by cancer by providing comprehensive support and care from the time of cancer diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond by leaders in cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care.

Specifically, you will join a progressive team of Allied Health Professionals that include OT, PT, SLP, TA’s and more that continuously collaborate to provide the best care for patients and have opportunities for ongoing mentorship. Please note there can be flexibility in scheduling, working hours or FTE for this position that also meets operational requirements. Please note this position will be eligible for relocation expense reimbursement up to 10% of the annual base salary in accordance with organizational policy.

Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up.You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care.

You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs.

You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program with equivalent experience. Active Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.

Empathy and compassion: a deep understanding of the functional, cognitive and emotional needs of patients with cancer. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft office suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS teams).

New graduates of a recognized Physiotherapy program are encouraged to apply. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Preferred Qualifications:
AADL Authorizer. Minimum 1 year PT experience within the last 3 years in clinical environment (inpatient, outpatient, acute care or rehab setting). Oncology and/or palliative experience. Experience with EMR Epic/Connect care. Experience providing physical therapy in an interdisciplinary team, including therapy assistants. Experience providing combined decongestive therapy for lymphedema. Experience providing virtual care. Experience in front-line clinical leadership.
