The Provincial Preschool Autism Service (PPAS) is a partnership involving IWK Health, Nova Scotia Health, Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia, and Autism Nova Scotia. It offers family-centered services to preschoolers across Nova Scotia suspected of or diagnosed with autism, including clinical intake, care coordination, parent education, diagnostic assessments, and intervention services.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the PPAS Clinical Interventionist will be part of an interprofessional team delivering services to preschool children (ages 0-6) with autism. Responsibilities include facilitating goal setting with families, conducting assessments, developing and coordinating intervention programs, and contributing to family education. The role involves working within various intervention frameworks, including intensive and caregiver-mediated programs, and supervising Program Implementers.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours/week. Flexibility for some evenings and weekends is required.

Your Qualifications

• Master's degree in Behaviour Analysis or equivalent, with BCBA certification.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia.
• CPR and First Aid certification within the last 12 months.
• At least two years recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6) and their families.
• Knowledge of best practices in autism intervention.
• Proven clinical assessment and intervention planning skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Experience supervising healthcare intervention providers.
• Commitment to family-centered care and safety, ethics, and organizational health.
• Experience with evidence-based autism interventions (assets): PRT, PBS, PECS, ESDM.
• Participation in quality improvement initiatives (assets).
• Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (assets).
• Additional language skills (assets).
