Job summary

We're Hiring!

We are now accepting applications for a Child and Youth Workers to provide support, supervision and nurturing to children and youth living in our two-bed staffed resources, located in Kelowna or West Kelowna.


Hours / Schedule:

Relief Youth Workers (Casual) - Up to 40-hrs / week.

Relief applicants have the flexibility to accept a combination of the following shifts, based on their preferred schedule - start times may vary slightly based on work location.

  • 8-hour morning shifts (7am start time)
  • 8-hour evening shifts (2pm start time)
  • 10-hour overnight shifts (10pm start time)

Applicants who are willing to work overnight shifts on an on-call basis are encouraged to apply.

While not guaranteed, Relief Youth Workers are typically able to work full-time hours, if they choose to do so.

Responsibilities:

Youth Workers will:

  • Work successfully as part of a collaborative case management team.
  • Provide care and emotional nurturing, as well as skilled intervention and supervision of the children and youth living in the home.
  • Support clients to develop healthy lifestyles and appropriate behaviors
    Applicants should be aware that this position involves assisting youth with personal care needs, including eating, dressing, bathing and toileting as well as managing challenging behaviours and responding to crisis situations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working with persons with disabilities including autism, as well as experience supporting youth and children who have complex needs and behaviours.

Ideally candidates will have experience working with high-risk children and youth in a group care setting.

Other Skills and Attributes:
This position requires sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description.

Qualifications include Health Care Assistant, Human Service Worker Diploma, Child & Youth Care Diploma, Community Support Worker, BSW, or other related Diploma, Degree, or Certificate Program, or relevant combination of training and related experience.

Other Requirements:

Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates:

  • Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.

Wage / Benefits:

$ 27.85 - $ 29.15 per hour based on relevant experience and education.

Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision

coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions) as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
