Job summary

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is seeking a Youth Support Worker to assist children and youth in developing life and social skills, and accessing community resources in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. The role involves providing individual guidance and working with Prevention & Recovery and Cultural staff.

The ideal candidate will engage with youth across communities, support grief workshops, and promote healthy lifestyle choices while coordinating with health care professionals.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent education or experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Experience facilitating groups, public speaking and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree or knowledge of Cree culture.

Responsibilities

  • Increase awareness and understanding of issues among First Nations youth.
  • Contribute in thoughtful and innovative ways to awareness and prevention development and implementation.
  • Assist in organizing a committee in each community and engaging youth to discuss relevant issues and concerns.
  • Participate in developing youth planning in each community.
  • Assist P&R and Cultural team in facilitating grief workshops.
  • Inspire youth to live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Attend meetings, case conferences and trainings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.
