Job summary

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a Youth Centre Worker to mentor youth aged 8-18 through engaging programs at Red Deer recreation centres.

You will model positive behaviours, foster inclusion, and connect youth with community resources while collaborating with staff and volunteers to deliver high quality programming.

Able to obtain a Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Check; First Aid & CPR-C certifications required; High School diploma is an asset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18+ years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
• Previous Youth work/mentorship or related experience.
• Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C.
• Able to obtain Police Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• WHMIS and Child Protection Training within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality services through strong relationships with youth, staff and volunteers.
• Actively supervise youth during programming and manage behavior.
• Ensure programs start and finish on time.
• Communicate with the Youth Coordinator and Youth Supervisor.
• Maintain knowledge of community resources.
• Be a first responder to health and safety issues.
• Promote YMCA values and inclusion in all activities.
• Work as part of a team with supervisors and frontline staff.
