Job summary

The YMCA of Regina is seeking a Youth Mentor to support male youth in Moose Jaw through the Shared Services Mentorship Program. You will work in elementary schools and at YMCA sites, delivering engaging workshops and building positive relationships with boys in grades 1-12.

This part-time role runs about 25 hours per week with some evening work. You will be a positive role model, help plan lessons, and collaborate with families and staff while upholding YMCA child protection policies and

Responsibilities

• Implement programming in schools and YMCA sites for male youth.
• Create and facilitate interactive workshops for small groups of boys aged 6-15.
• Build relationships and provide mentorship to participants.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA Child Protection Policy and training as required.
• Communicate program progress to participants, families and YMCA partners.

If you want to help make a difference in the lives of male youth in Moose Jaw, we have a great opportunity for you! The Youth Mentor will assist in executing the Shared Services Mentorship Program in Moose Jaw, SK. This program is offered in various elementary schools around Moose Jaw & at a YMCA program site. This position requires you to build relationships with male youth, act as a positive role model & facilitate meaningful workshops to Youth Mentorship groups throughout the week to students in grades 1-12. This position works 25hrs/week & some evening work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Implement programming in a school & small group setting.
• Creating & facilitating interactive workshops for a small group of male youth ages 6-15.
• Building relationships & providing mentorship to male youth referred to YMCA Mentorship Program
• Comply with all YMCA Child Protection Policy & Procedures & complete all Child Protection Training as required.
• Communicating program success & activities to program participants, their family & through the Y network.

Requirements

• Ability to build relationships & work with male youth is an asset, especially those with challenging behaviours
• Self-motivated & be able to work independently as well as part of a small team.
• Experience & interest working with male youth & lessons/program planning
• Demonstrate the ability to be a positive role model, mentor & authentic leader
• Good communication skills & interpersonal skills.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check prior to first day of work & dated no more than 3 months before hire date
• Updated CPR & First Aid upon start date.
• Valid driving licence.
