Job summary

Threshold Housing Society is seeking a Youth Housing Support – Awake Overnight in Victoria to provide overnight supervision and housing support for youth connected with MCFD. You will be the primary overnight contact, helping youth settle, manage stress and potential crises while guiding them toward daily goals.

The role offers permanent full-time employment with 10-hour shifts from 12:00am to 10:00am on Fridays to Sundays and alternating Thursdays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Child & Youth Care is required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth is required.
• Experience facilitating programming is an asset.
• ASIST training and NVCI training are assets.

We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future.

Position Overview:

The YHS - Awake Overnight position will be the primary overnight contact person for youth within our houses. The goal of the program is to provide housing and support for youth who are MCFD involved. The role of the overnight staff person is to support youth in a housing setting to settle, manage stressors and potential crisis while supporting to focus on individual goals for the following day.

These positions are permanent, full-time, 10-hour shifts from 12:00am to 10:00am working Friday to Sunday and alternating Thursdays. The hourly wage range is $26.74 - $31.00 per hour dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range. The Awake Overnight position receives an extra $2.00 premium, in addition to the base hourly wage, for working awake overnight shifts.

Education & Experience

• A relevant bachelor's degree, such as Social Work or Child & Youth Care
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth. Other combinations of education, experience and training may be considered
• Experience facilitating programming is an asset
• ASIST training and NVCI training is an asset

Working Conditions

• Based on operational needs, this role may temporarily be assigned to another location to ensure appropriate program coverage. For long-term location changes, the Society will provide appropriate notice to relocate to a different Society location for operational needs
• Threshold will provide a yearly training and professional development allowance
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a wraparound care team
