Job summary

Foundry Prince George, operated by YMCA BC, is hiring a Peer Support Coordinator for maternity leave coverage. The role oversees youth and family peer support programs, leads daily activities, and coordinates staff while collaborating with the centre manager and Foundry Central Office.

The position requires strong leadership, lived peer experience, and a commitment to service integration for youth and families.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse youth and family populations with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Education/training equivalent to a degree in Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Public Health or related field.
  • Lived experience with mental health/substance use concerns and willingness to share experiences.
  • Five years of peer support employment experience including leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary health care teams is an asset.
  • Understanding of and passion for peer support and youth/family access.
  • Commitment to service integration and improving experiences for youth and families.
  • Successful references and criminal record check required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and leads the day-to-day youth and family peer support activities.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling and peer support programming.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision, coaching and mentorship for peer support workers.
  • Directly supervises peer support team members including performance evaluation.
  • Promotes continuous learning, effective communication and service excellence.
  • Participates in hiring processes with centre manager.
  • Collaborates with Foundry Central Office for communication, data collection and evaluation.
  • Engages in evaluation and quality improvement for peer support services.
  • Provides orientation and peer learning for staff as needed.
  • Ensures best practices and Foundry model for youth and family peer support.
  • Maintains client records per standards and oversees privacy.
  • Identifies trends and provides feedback to management and staff.
  • Supports staff during critical incidents and high-risk situations.
  • Produces reports, documents, and presentations; supports policy development.
  • Oversees use of EMR and ensures accountability and privacy.
  • Maintains knowledge of community resources and partnerships.
  • Represents Foundry and delivers public presentations.
