Job summary

Interior Community Services in Kamloops is seeking a dedicated Youth Education & Employment Specialist for the Foundry program. This full-time, 18-month term supports youth ages 12–24 in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities through coaching, planning, and system navigation.

Youth Services Temp Kamloops, BC $29.22 - $33.54 CAD per hour

ABOUT THE JOB:

Foundry is a BC-wide network offering free, integrated health and wellness services for youth ages 12–24 and their caregivers. At Foundry, young people can access mental health care, substance use support, physical and sexual health care, peer support, and social services all in one place.

As a Youth Education & Employment Specialist, you will support youth and young adults in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities. Through individualized planning, coaching, system navigation, employer engagement, and group programming, you will help youth in our community overcome barriers and achieve their education and employment goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support youth with education, career, and employment planning and goal-setting.
• Assist with school and training applications, career exploration, job searches, resumes, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
• Provide ongoing coaching to help youth succeed in education and employment.
• Build relationships with schools, training providers, employers, and community partners to expand opportunities for youth.
• Connect youth with resources, services, and supports that reduce barriers.
• Facilitate workshops on career planning, job readiness, workplace skills, study skills, and goal setting.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and community partners to coordinate services.
• Promote a welcoming, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and youth-centred service environment.
• Maintain accurate documentation, participant records, and outcome data.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

• Diploma in Education, Human Services, Social Services, or a related field.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience supporting youth or young adults with education, employment, or career planning, including individuals experiencing barriers such as mental health, learning, substance use, or social challenges.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of education, training, and employment resources, systems, and trends
• Knowledge of job search strategies, career development, and workplace expectations.
• Ability to build trusting relationships using youth-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
• Strong communication, coaching, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with youth, families, educators, employers, community partners, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
• Experience facilitating workshops and group programming.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate professional boundaries.

REQUIREMENTS

• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Valid BC driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to complete required organizational training provided at no cost, including CPR-C, Mandt (RC), SafeTALK, Privacy and Information Sharing, Abuse and Neglect Awareness, Anti-Bullying and Harassment, Naloxone, and Foundry-specific training. Existing certifications are considered an asset.
• Union membership required (1.85% dues)

37.5 hours per week

SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday. Primarily during standard office hours of 8:30 am–4:30 pm, including 1–2 evening(s) per week, up to 7:00 pm, to accommodate low-barrier youth access to services.

COMPENSATION:

$29.22 -$33.54 per hour (Grid 11 as per collective agreement)
