Job summary

Pacific Community Resources Society is seeking a Youth Outreach Substance Use Counsellor for a 12-month maternity leave coverage in Surrey, BC. The role is full-time, on-site with a 35-hour workweek, serving youth via outreach in local communities.

Responsibilities include individual counselling, intake processing, and group sessions as needed, with a focus on biopsychosocial–spiritual approaches to youth substance use and wellness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or better in Social Work or related field.
  • At least 2 years of related youth substance use counselling.
  • Experience using a biopsychosocial–spiritual framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling and support services to youth in relation to their substance use.
  • Offer services on an outreach basis.
  • Screen, process, and accept referrals, complete intake and orientation processes for youth as per policy.
  • Document and maintain case notes in the agency database.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate group sessions when required.
  • Deliver services at local youth hubs and with community partners.
