Job summary

Marymound in Winnipeg, MB is seeking a Youth Care Practitioner to support the developmental needs of children and youth. You will design and implement programs, integrate preventive and therapeutic requirements, and work with a multi-disciplinary team to promote well-being.

The role requires trauma-informed care, First Aid/CPR, NVCI, and ASIST certifications, with opportunities for professional development and growth within a permanent full-time position.

Qualifications

• Certificate/diploma in Child & Youth Care, or applicable post-secondary education (i.e. social work, psychology, counselling, etc.) preferred.
• Experience providing physical, psychological, and social support to at-risk youth or other vulnerable populations preferred.
• Must be familiar with developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children and youth.
• Experience working from a trauma-informed perspective preferred.
• Knowledge of addictions, harm reduction strategies, and/or sexual exploitation assets.
• Valid First Aid/CPR and NVCI/ASIST certifications are required. Marymound provides training.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the optimal growth and development of each child or young person to reach their full potential.
• Implements planned activities, treatment interventions, structured environments, and organized recreational and social activities.
• Develops awareness of each child's psychological, educational, physical, spiritual, and social needs and promotes them.
• Encourages family-focused and culture-valuing support structures and programming.
• Helps youth identify personal strengths to promote growth and belonging.
• Maintains a safe living environment meeting licensing standards and conducts routine cleaning and meal prep.
• Observes and records daily events to ensure continuity in treatment planning and logs communications accordingly.
• Engages in behaviour management and crisis intervention following Marymound policies; training provided.
• Administers medication following strict protocols and documentation.
• Participates in training and workshops for professional growth and best practices.
• Performs fire and disaster safety duties in alignment with policy.
