Job summary

Tri Line Carriers is seeking a motivated Yard Operations Supervisor - Shunt & Tarps to oversee daily yard operations at the Carseland facility. Night shift starts at 4:00 p.m. with a Class 1 license required for on-site shunting, and a focus on safety, efficiency, and team development.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day yard operations and supervise tarp/shunt crews.
• Drive team performance to meet productivity and operational targets.
• Enforce safety culture with compliant procedures and continuous improvements.
• Operate a shunt tractor to move trailers between staging areas and load bays.
• Maintain accurate inventory and track materials and equipment.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and support customer-led safety initiatives.
• Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing workforce.
• Be the primary on-site contact for customers and maintain professional relationships.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Yard Operations Supervisor - Shunt & Tarp to oversee daily operations at our Carseland facility. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is committed to safety, efficiency, and team development. Must have valid Class 1 Driver’s License (required for on-site trailer shunting) with super B's. This is a night-shift-only position. The scheduled start time is 4:00 p.m. each day; however, start times may be subject to change based on operational requirements.

Scope of Work:

• Lead day-to-day yard operations, supervising tarp and shunt crews on the floor
• Drive team performance by ensuring productivity, efficiency, and operational targets are consistently met
• Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all procedures and protocols are followed and continuously improved
• Operate a shunt tractor to safely move trailers between staging areas and load bays as required
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure proper tracking of materials and equipment
• Conduct daily safety meetings and actively participate in customer-led safety initiatives
• Train, mentor, and support team members to build a high-performing, safety-focused workforce
• Act as the primary on-site contact for customers, maintaining professional communication and strong working relationships

What you Bring:

• 3-5 years of experience in yard, logistics, or industrial operations, including leadership or lead hand responsibilities
• Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (required for on-site trailer shunting)
• Direct experience pulling super B trailers
• Wiling to work night shift
• A hands-on leadership style, leading by example and working alongside the team
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable
• Professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
• A proactive approach to safety, productivity, and continuous improvement
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience operating a shunt tractor or willingness to learn
• Reliable transportation to the Carseland, AB facility
