SMS Equipment Inc. in Edmonton, AB is hiring a Yard Person to assist with the general maintenance and upkeep of the yard around our heavy equipment fleet. The base wage is $34.74 per hour with a 5x2 Monday to Friday schedule.

The role focuses on safe handling of deliveries, equipment movements, and yard organization. The successful candidate will have at least 6 months in a similar role, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate a loader, forklift and crane while demonstrating strong

Responsibilities

• Safely handle deliveries and equipment movements, loading and unloading materials.

• Clean, wash and prepare equipment.
• Provide storage for surplus parts and materials used by others.
• During snow periods, clear snow from yard, steps, sidewalks and entrances.
• Perform fence repair tasks around the yard perimeter.
• Use loader and forklift to move parts, equipment and materials.
• Deliver and pick up parts.

Description

SMS Equipment is growing!We are looking for a Yard Person to add to our team to help with the general maintenance and upkeep of the yard. If you enjoy finding solutions, make safety a priority and are excited about working around the largest, most advanced earthmoving equipment then keep reading.

Base Wage: $34.74 per hour.
Location: Edmonton, AB.
Schedule: 5x2 (Monday to Friday)

What You’ll Do:

• Safely handle deliveries and equipment movements, loading and unloading material.
• Organize and maintain machine keys.
• Maintain the status of equipment on the yard.
• Clean, wash and make ready the equipment.
• To keep the yard free of clutter and debris, provides a storage area for surplus parts, components, materials, etc. that will be used by the other employee.
• During periods of snow, the Yardperson will clear snow away from the yard, steps, sidewalks and entrances of the building
• Perform fence repair tasks as the fence around the perimeter of the works yard becomes damaged.
• Use loader and forklift to transport parts, equipment and materials to areas in the works yard.
• Deliver and pick up parts.

What You Bring:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 months experience in a similar position. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include:

• Prior experience in an industrial or trade-related role is considered an asset.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate a loader, forklift and crane.
• Basic mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment.
• Knowledge, experience to operate heavy equipment well enough to move the machines around the yard.
• Ability to work in a team environment and with minimal supervision
• Strong communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Requires high degree of attention, skill, and dexterity.
• Strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and acute safety awareness.
