Job summary

RMC Group of Companies is seeking a reliable Plant Yard Hand for the West Plant to support concrete production operations. You will perform general labour, assist with maintenance, and help ensure smooth day-to-day plant activities in a busy facility.

This full-time role requires physical work, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and strict adherence to safety protocols. Shifts vary (mornings/afternoons, occasional nights) and include overtime; pre-employment drug and fit-for-work testing apply.

Qualifications

• Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.
• General construction experience.
• CSTS Certification or WHMIS training preferred.
• Pre-employment drug, alcohol and fit-for-work testing required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labour throughout the plant.
• Perform basic maintenance on plant equipment.
• Assist Plant Manager with needed tasks and operations.
• Dump ice and other materials into concrete mixtures.
• General housekeeping and yard work.
• Operate skidsteers and other small equipment.
• Participate in and follow all safety protocols, policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

We are currently looking for a responsible, dependable, and safe Plant Yard Hand at the Rolling Mix Concrete West Plant. This position is primarily responsible for basic maintenance, support, and labour at the plant facility.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general labour throughout the plant.
• Perform basic maintenance on plant equipment.
• Assist Plant Manager with needed tasks and operations.
• Dump ice and other materials into concrete mixtures.
• General housekeeping and yard work.
• Operation of skidsteers and other small equipment.
• Participate in and adhere to all safety protocols, polices, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
• General construction experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform tasks physical in nature on a consistent basis.
• Basic mechanical ability to perform maintenance repairs.
• CSTS Certification is preferred.
• WHIMIS training is preferred.
• Must be able to be clean shaven (mask fit is required for employment)

Hours of Work:

• This is a full time, permanent position.
• Shifts times vary based on production schedules, including early mornings, afternoons, and occasional night shifts. However, typical hours of work are 8-10 daily.
• Shifts may be scheduled Monday – Saturday.
• Overtime, evenings, weekends, and occasional night shifts are required.

Work Environment:

• An outdoor and indoor environment, working conditions will be subject to weather conditions.
• This position is physical in nature and requires bending, crawling, crouching, and standing for long periods of time.
• Materials are heavy and cumbersome, must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and fit for work testing as a condition of employment.
