Job summary

Rolling Mix Concrete seeks a responsible Ready-Mix Concrete Truck Driver for its West End Plant in Edmonton. The role delivers concrete and related products to construction sites and residential areas, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include pre-trip checks, loading, monitoring slump, safe driving, and accurate ticketing. Candidates should have a valid license with air brake endorsement, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Valid class 3 or class 1 license with air brake endorsement.
  • Clean driving record evidenced by a clean abstract.
  • Ability to work long hours, overtime, and weekends.
  • 1–2 years of prior concrete truck driving experience (preferred).
  • Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the truck and fluids before starting shift.
  • Fill truck with water and prepare drum for concrete.
  • Receive and manage delivery tickets.
  • Add fibers or other products as directed.
  • Check slump and concrete mix accuracy.
  • Drive safely to jobsites and arrive with proper slump.
  • Back into jobsites and maneuver in uneven terrain.
  • Unload concrete and ensure proper jobsite info on tickets.
  • Wash truck and maintain cleanliness.
  • Communicate with dispatcher on return to plant and load ingredients.
  • Complete paperwork and note times, issues, and water added.
  • Refuel and perform post-trip inspection.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Position Overview

We are currently looking for a responsible, dependable, safe, and capable Ready-Mix Concrete Truck Driver at the Rolling Mix Concrete West End Plant. This position is primarily responsible for delivering ready-mix concrete and other associated products to construction jobsites and residential areas. Drivers may be called upon to work extensive overtime as business and weather conditions warrant.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect the truck including checking fluids such as oil and antifreeze before starting in the morning in accordance with pre-trip inspection reports
  • Fill truck with water by placing rubber hose in tank and prepare drum for concrete
  • Receive delivery ticket
  • Add fibers or other products as directed
  • Check slumps and mix of concrete
  • Drive truck in safe manner to jobs arriving with desired slump
  • Backup or pulls into jobsites. Must be able to maneuver truck in uneven and poor terrain
  • Place chutes from fender to main chute on rear of truck
  • Unloads concrete in courteous manner
  • Gets tickets signed and assures they have all jobsite information that is needed
  • Washes truck with hoses and brush in designated area per contractors
  • Communicates with dispatcher through radio that they are returning to plant. Adds various ingredients to load such as fibers, cement, and admixtures
  • Completes all paperwork including notes on times, problems on job and water added
  • Refuels truck every evening and performs walk around post inspection
  • May be called on to perform other tasks as decided by supervisors
  • Occasionally may utilize chipper to clean buildup of concrete in drum. Exterior and interior should also be maintained in clean manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of work

Work schedules are dictated by customer demand, so start and end times each day may be dependent upon the jobs for that day. Drivers typically work long days and must be capable of working overtime and weekends.

Work Environment

This position is a field position, involving travel between jobsites and our plant.

PPE is required, including CSA certified steel toed boots.

Applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment drug, alcohol, and fit for work testing as part of the hiring process.
