Job summary

EllisDon Corporation in London, Ontario is seeking a Yard Foreman to oversee daily yard operations, coordinate receiving and shipping, and ensure equipment is ready on schedule. You will supervise yard staff, train workers, and report to the Operations Manager.

Ideal candidates have construction yard or warehouse experience, forklift/telehandler certification or ability to renew, a valid driver's license, strong organization and safety focus, and willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a yard or similar operations.
• Ability to supervise, train and direct yard staff.
• Knowledge of receiving, inventory, equipment readiness and safe loading practices.
• Forklift and telehandler certification, or the ability to renew certification.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Basic computer skills and ability to read pick lists and job docs.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily yard operations, including workflow, priorities and resources.
• Supervise, train and direct yard employees; assign work and monitor progress.
• Coordinate receiving, staging, loading, deliveries, returns and equipment prep.
• Maintain records of movements, inventory levels and discrepancies.
• Monitor inventory and storage areas; identify shortages or obsolescence.
• Coordinate inspections, cleaning and readiness of returned equipment.
• Maintain yard security, housekeeping and waste disposal; enforce PPE and safety.
• Operate forklifts, telehandlers and other material-handling equipment as trained.
• Provide regular updates to Operations Manager on staffing, safety and equipment issues.

You as a Yard Foreman will:* Oversee daily yard operations, including workflow, priorities, staffing coverage and available resources.* Supervise, train and direct yard employees; assign work, monitor completion and escalate formal employee matters to the Operations Manager.* Coordinate receiving, staging, loading, unloading, deliveries, returns & equipment preparation.* Confirm orders are accurate; verify quantities and ensure equipment and materials are available and ready on schedule.* Maintain full awareness of all materials and equipment received into and leaving the yard; keep accurate records and promptly report movements, returns and discrepancies to the office.* Monitor inventory and storage areas; identify shortages, damaged, missing or obsolete items and recommend replenishment, transfer, repair or disposal.* Coordinate inventory counts and ensures equipment and materials are correctly identified, labelled, stored and recorded.* Coordinate the inspection, cleaning and readiness of returned equipment and assist with minor service as required.* Maintain yard security, facility condition, housekeeping and waste disposal, and report losses, repairs or capital needs.* Ensure safe storage & handling of equipment & materials; enforce safety policies, PPE requirements & inspections.* Operate forklifts, telehandlers and other material-handling equipment as trained and certified.* Monitor yard supplies & operating needs, support cost control & obtain approval for purchases outside delegated authority.* Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager and office regarding staffing, scheduling, safety, inventory, equipment, facility and service issues.* Support Operations, Inventory, Service & Purchasing teams & recommend improvements to yard organization & workflow. **This is the right role for you if:*** Experience in a construction yard, warehouse, equipment rental, scaffolding, logistics or related environment is preferred.* Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is required.* Knowledge of yard operations, receiving, inventory control, material handling, equipment readiness & safe loading practices.* Ability to independently coordinate yard operations, staffing, security, facilities, inventory and office communication.* Strong leadership, organization, communication and problem-solving skills.* Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools or servicing construction equipment are assets.* Ability to read and follow pick lists, work orders and job documentation accurately.* Forklift and telehandler certification, or the ability to renew certification.* Valid driver’s license, clean drivers abstract and basic computer skills.* Availability of working overtime, including early mornings or evenings, when required.* The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000.
