Job summary

Moffatt & Powell requires a friendly Yard Associate to help customers with building materials and keep the yard safe and welcoming. You will play a vital role in supporting a smooth shopping experience and ensuring accurate handling of materials.

You will assist with loading/unloading, verify product counts, support deliveries, and maintain inventory accuracy while upholding health and safety policies. This role emphasizes teamwork and attention to detail to help every customer succeed.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide first-class service at all times.
• Assist contractors/customers with loading and unloading vehicles safely.
• Keep yard, sheds, and special-order area clean and presentable.
• Verify returned products, document damages, and report discrepancies.
• Ensure invoicing and payments are recorded for products leaving the yard.
• Assist with deliveries and accompany Delivery Truck Drivers as required.
• Put away received products and replenish merchandise from overstock.
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow health and safety policies.
• Perform additional duties including assembly, wood cutting, and forklift operations.

Job Duties:

Customer Service:

• Greet customers promptly with a warm greeting and ensure first-class customer service at all times.

Loading and Unloading:

• Assist contractors/customers with loading and unloading vehicles, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Yard Maintenance:

• Keep the yard, sheds, and special-order area in a clean and presentable appearance.

Product Handling:

• Verify returned products by checking customer return slips, ensuring product integrity, and accuracy of product count.
• Support inventory control with accurate documentation and reporting of damaged products.

Financial Transactions:

• Ensure all products leaving the yard have been invoiced and/or paid for.
• Verify correctness and update product codes as necessary.

Assistance with Deliveries:

• Accompany Delivery Truck Drivers and assist with deliveries as required.

Stock Management:

• Assist in putting away received products and monitor/replenish merchandise from overstock as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

• Maintain a safe working environment by promptly informing management of any concerns.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.

Additional Duties:
