Job Description

As a member of our Wound/Ostomy team, you will promote excellence in evidence-based clinical care for clients with wound, ostomy, or continence problems. Working with the local leadership team and supported by an Advanced Clinical Consultant, you will deliver standardized education, consultation, and care. You will also participate in knowledge sharing with Wound and Ostomy Resource Nurses, colleagues, and experts across Ontario. Additionally, you will conduct in-depth clinical and health assessments and provide consultation for clients requiring specialized wound management, ostomy, and continence assessments.

Responsibilities

1. Provide primary care for clients requiring specialized wound management, ostomy, and continence assessments.
2. Provide education and preceptorship experiences to enhance wound, ostomy, and continence care capacity within Saint Elizabeth.
3. Offer clinical support and consultation within the organization.
4. Assess and recommend appropriate nursing care and supplies.
5. Actively participate in the Wound/Ostomy Team at Saint Elizabeth.

Requirements

1. Registered Nurse (RN) with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
2. Advanced study in wound care from an accredited university or college, such as the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Certificate from the University of Toronto, or equivalent.
3. Ability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
4. Flexibility and a commitment to advancing knowledge at Saint Elizabeth.
5. Willingness to attend national conferences and participate in further education programs/courses, including the required Preceptorship Program.
6. Possession of a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel.
7. Excellent verbal, presentation, and writing skills.
8. Thorough understanding of adult education principles.
9. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
10. Extensive experience in this specialty is preferred.
11. Comprehensive knowledge of community healthcare is preferred.
12. Demonstrated teaching skills and expertise in developing effective teaching tools and methods are assets.
