Job summary

Timmins District Hospital is seeking a Wound Nurse to support wound care across the organization. The role includes assessment, treatment planning, direct patient care, and education with an emphasis on evidence-based practice.

The successful candidate will lead a wound program in collaboration with clinical teams, maintain standards, and participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-year medical-surgical nursing experience.
• BScN or Nursing Diploma with relevant experience and advanced education in wound care.
• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Experience and comfort with meeting and building relationships with clinical teams.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed holistic assessment of clients with wound, ostomy or continence-related concerns.
• Formulate treatment recommendations in collaboration with the interprofessional team and develop a plan of care.
• Initiate and formulate treatment plan for wound patients.
• Provide education and mentorship to team members.
• Provide wound consultation to care providers within the organization.
• Demonstrate knowledge of wound etiology and standard of care.
• Direct and evaluate nursing care provided to patients with wounds.
• Coordinate and lead weekly wound team rounds and care plan reviews.
