Job summary

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) seeks a Platform Engineer to own the Workday platform's engineering, reliability, and evolution, building and sustaining integrations across HR, Finance, Payroll, and Procurement.

Based in Victoria or Vancouver with a hybrid arrangement, you will partner with vendors and internal teams to design robust solutions using Workday tooling, monitor health, and advance platform maturity with automation and standardization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Hands-on Workday integration development experience in a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
Workday security configuration including encryption and integration security.
Experience supporting Workday HCM and at least one module: Financials, Payroll, or Procurement.
Proficiency with Workday integration tools: Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Orchestrate.
Strong technical skills with XSLT, XML, JSON, SOAP, and REST APIs.
Hands-on Workday development including orchestration and UI components.
Advanced/Matrix/Composite reports and calculated fields; proficiency with BIRT reporting.
Experience with Agile and DevOps practices.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills for non-technical stakeholders.
Workday integration certification strongly preferred.
Experience leading integration architecture decisions and design reviews.
Mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews.
Experience leading semi-annual releases across modules.
Familiarity with Workday Prism Analytics; SQL, data modeling, ETL concepts.
Experience with Azure or cloud-based integration patterns.
Ability to use AI tools to accelerate Workday configuration/automation.
Exposure to investment management or financial services industry

Responsibilities

Lead the technical delivery and continuous improvement of Workday integrations and platform capabilities.
Serve as the technical SME for the Workday platform, including integrations and reporting.
Design, develop, test, and maintain inbound/outbound Workday integrations using Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Orchestrate.
Develop platform maturity roadmaps aligned to business goals and technical needs.
Create and maintain Workday custom reports and dashboards for Finance, HCM, Payroll, and Procurement.
Produce technical documentation including integration specs and mappings.
Monitor integration health, jobs, alerts, and remediation plans; perform root cause analysis.
Participate in release reviews; assess impact of new features on integrations; coordinate testing prerequisites.
Analyze requirements and propose scalable technical solutions; think critically and contribute ideas.
Contribute to platform governance: security, change management, access controls; support risk assessments.
Build positive relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Payroll, Procurement and Technology.
Share Workday knowledge through communities and documentation.
Apply Agile practices and drive delivery performance; backlog grooming; sprint planning; retrospectives.
Set integration architecture standards and lead design reviews across Workday ecosystem.
Provide mentorship and training to Platform Engineers.
Lead complex integration projects and serve as escalation point for platform issues.
