Job description
Your Role

The Work Leader will safely perform the tasks assigned by Site Management and provide guidance and support to the Operations Team as they relate to chemical handling, shipping, receiving, storing, blending and packaging in accordance with procedures that conform to all corporate and local policies, programs and budget. This position reports directly to the Site Manager or Operations Manager. There are no direct reports to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs role in a manner that is reflective of Brenntag’s Core Values, within regulatory requirements and company policies, programs and expectations;
  • Ensures a safe work environment at all times, reporting unsafe conditions immediately to Site Management;
  • Provides daily guidance and support to Operations Team members;
  • Controls expenses incurred in accordance with the operations budget expectations;
  • Inspects, loads and unloads packaged and bulk products (Rail and Tanker) in a safe, efficient manner and confirms all appropriate regulatory documentation is in order; performs quality tests where required;
  • Inspects and verifies the satisfactory performance of all equipment and tools used in this area of operations, recommends changes where necessary, and actively participates in keeping the work area clean, organized and functional;
  • Executes the fulfillment of customers’ orders and requirements through the processes of blending, packaging, order pulling and shipment of goods, packaged and bulk;
  • Shares in the responsibility of managing the inventory of both finished goods and raw material, ensuring that all material movements are properly documented and safe storage and handling procedures are followed; communicates inventory deficiencies to site management;
  • Supports and follows Brenntag’s ‘Job 7’ product shipment best practices initiatives;
  • Completes other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Site Manager/Operations Manager.

Your Profile

Education & Experience

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Previous experience in an industrial or chemical handling environment (2+ years)
  • Knowledge and/or training in TDG, WHMIS, Emergency Response, Forklift License
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and ERP systems would be considered an asset
  • Effective team building and leadership skills
