Job summary

Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is hiring a Highway Maintenance Equipment Operator to perform skilled operation of heavy equipment across multiple depots, including Lethbridge and other locations. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, and a valid Class 03 license with 08 and 09 endorsements.

Offered are variable durations (full-time, part-time, hourly) with day or night shifts, and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance and practices used in operating heavy equipment.
• Experience with winter maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.
• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as tandem trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, etc.
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections of equipment and maintain records.
• Plow, sand and salt roads during winter, and perform routine maintenance.
• Participate in ongoing training and interact with the public.
