Job summary

Manulife John Hancock is offering a Global Risk Intelligence and Technology Winter Co-op designed to give students hands-on experience in analytics, AI, automation, and risk intelligence. You'll work with the GRIT team on strategic initiatives, learning how to support proactive decision-making in a global financial services setting.

The role emphasizes practical analytics, model validation, data quality, and collaboration with stakeholders across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Data Science, CS, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
• Interest in AI, ML, data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or similar languages used for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with data preparation, cleaning, and analysis.
• Experience using Power BI or similar dashboarding and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Support the automation of monthly reporting within the risk and intelligence function.
• Assist in the delivery of machine learning, LLM, and other analytics initiatives across GRIT.
• Drive process improvements across data collection, analysis, and dashboard development to generate actionable insights.
• Validate AI and analytics models to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
• Build and maintain scripts to test model performance and automate monitoring using Python or R.
• Support data quality monitoring and preparation within the Enterprise Data Lake (EDL).
• Collaborate with analytics, automation, and business stakeholders to support strategic risk initiatives.
• Assist with documenting processes, procedures, project work, and ad hoc requests.
