Job summary

SNDL is recruiting a Wine Manager for Wine & Beyond Emerald Hills. You will lead a high-volume store with a focus on exceptional customer experiences, staff development, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Role demands strong leadership, a background in retail, and a passion for wine. You will drive product launches, manage scheduling, and collaborate with General Manager to achieve financial targets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in retail.
  • Minimum 2 years' supervisory/management experience (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • First-Aid training considered an asset.
  • ProServe / Serving It Right certificate considered an asset.
  • WSET or wine-related training considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction of a multimillion-dollar store unit with GM partnership.
  • Train and develop team members; foster a sales culture with accountability for results.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service and resolve complaints.
  • Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and inventory to meet financial targets.
  • Ensure regulatory adherence (OHS, LP, ProServe) and safety standards.
  • Develop relationships with store stakeholders and participate in promotions.

About The Role

We are currently looking for friendly, outgoing, and customer service driven individuals to join our team as a Wine Manager .

Primary Purpose of Job

Provide leadership and direction of a multimillion-dollar business unit in partnership with General Manager, with a focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience. Train and develop team members while establishing a strong sales culture with accountability for operational excellence and achievement of financial and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
People Management Skills
  • Create a work culture that makes your store an inviting place to work
  • Be a role model who coaches, mentors, and inspires team members
  • Delegate tasks to team members and set priorities
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner to team, leading effective huddles/meetings/coaching sessions, relay pertinent information
  • Participate in department recruitment and create succession plans for the store
  • Support and coach team members to improve any performance gaps; conduct ongoing coaching for improvements
  • Completes and holds team accountable to complete required training within timeframes
  • Creates and/or monitors the creation of efficient department weekly scheduling for both sales and support functions
Customer Offering
  • Deliver exemplary customer service
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service; inform all customer complaints to General Manager
  • Create a culture that has a passion for wine
  • Accountable for product rollouts and product launches
  • Review customer surveys and react appropriately
  • Understand and utilize local market tends
  • Evaluate programs and promotions for effectiveness and offer recommendations to General Manager
Financial
  • Ensure that goals will be met through appropriate planning and organization of labour, inventory, and finances for short and long-term success
  • Meet or exceed department financial targets through partnership with General Manager
  • Review and monitor Loss Prevention program to protect the company's inventory and assets in partnership with General Manager
  • Review financial document (invoices, costs etc.) for accuracy
  • Monitor and make appropriate adjustments to scheduling to achieve labor cost in partnership with General Manager
Day to Day Operations
  • Ensure department follows merchandising and pricing guidelines
  • Ensure department is presentable and relay any maintenance issues to General Manager
  • Execute merchandising programs and track results
  • Manage communication (mail, email, voicemail )
  • Maintain department inventory levels
  • Respond to customer complaints
  • Manage department inventory ordering and receiving
  • Organize and/or attend OHS and LP meetings and training sessions
  • Actively aim to increase and share industry knowledge on wine
  • Develop relationships with store stakeholders
  • Set daily tasks for the store
  • Review flyers, upcoming events, and promotions; execute appropriately
Regulatory Adherence
  • Observe that OHS, LP, ProServe /Serving It Right and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Participate in health inspections, audits and required corrective actions
  • Maintain First-Aid, LP and OHS Training
  • Maintain ProServe /Serving It Right and ensure employees maintain ProServe /Serving It Right
  • Ensure AGLC/BC LRS and other government guidelines are met
  • Adheres to all SNDL Inc. policies, with a focus on Social Responsibility
Qualifications:
Work Experience
  • Minimum, 2-years' experience in retail environment
  • Minimum, 2-years' supervisory and/or management experience (preferred)
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • First-Aid training considered an asset
  • ProServe /Serving It Right Certificate considered an asset
  • WSET Certification and/or other wine-related training considered an asset
