Qualifications

OVERVIEW

The Wind Farm Technician is responsible for the onsite operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment at the Kruger Énergie Montérégie and Énergie Renouvelable des Cultures wind farms, located in Saint-Rémi (Québec), with the objective of reaching maximum energy production potential. The incumbent will also support our Hydro Bromptonville L.P. power plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operate and maintain the wind farms’ electrical substation equipment, as well as the hydroelectric plant as required.
  2. Replace mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control components according to the manufacturer's specifications.
  3. Perform inspections and corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on equipment according to world-class standards.
  4. Implement best maintenance practices within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  5. Maintain records of unplanned production shutdowns within the asset management system (PF-Drive).
  6. Support operations according to on-call rotation.
  7. Support operations in the replacement of major components with the manufacturer.
  8. Comply with all environmental health and safety programs related to worker and employer safety.
  9. Assist the supervisor in upgrading site-specific work procedures and instructions.
  10. Assist and participate in site visits by employees, business partners, and the general public (organizing visits, escorting visitors, ensuring visitor safety, etc.).
  11. Assist with tasks related to landowner property or related matters, as directed.
  12. Perform additional duties, as required.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  1. Degree in electromechanics or equivalent training.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Ability to regularly climb 100-meter-high towers to perform work in the nacelle and hub.
  2. Ability to frequently lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs. and occasionally items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  3. Knowledge of maintenance systems and CMMS.
  4. Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions provided in writing, orally, in diagram form or as a program.
  5. Writing skills to meet accountability obligations.
  6. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  7. Ability to work with low and medium voltages and in close proximity to high voltage.
  8. Knowledge of maintenance and electronic testing equipment (e.g., multimeter, hydraulic torque wrench, alignment, and various hand and power tools).
  9. Willingness to work on schedules, overtime, and on certain holidays or weekends upon request and on short notice.
