Job summary

RWDI is seeking a Wind Engineering Coordinator / E.I.T. to join the Wind Effects - Buildings Team in our Guelph, ON office.

The role focuses on solving wind engineering problems for complex structures and coordinating with engineers, architects, and wind tunnel staff to deliver safe, optimized designs. You will interpret wind tunnel results, perform desk-based assessments, and communicate findings through technical reports and live meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level Engineering degree in Structural, Mechanical or Aerospace.
  • Knowledge of wind engineering concepts, bluff body aerodynamics, and/or structural dynamics.
  • Familiarity with NBCC, ASCE-7 wind and snow provisions.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD; Excel/VBA automation and Python are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Solve wind engineering problems for high-rise buildings, long-span roofs, stadia, and other structures.
  • Consult with structural engineers, architects, and developers to optimize safety and performance.
  • Coordinate with wind tunnel technicians, model builders, and CAD technicians for simulations.
  • Interpret wind tunnel data and provide concise design recommendations.
  • Undertake desk-based assessments based on codes, literature, and experience.
  • Communicate engineering results through reports and meetings.
  • Coordinate with a diverse team to deliver timely work within budget.
