Job summary

Italic Inc in Toronto is seeking a Wide Format Printing and Finisher Operator to join our Production department. You will operate and maintain wide format equipment, ensuring daily printing and finishing align with job specs and our high quality standards.

Reporting to the Production Management team, you will coordinate with teams to meet deadlines, follow OHSA safety guidelines, and keep a clean, organized work area while learning new technologies and processes as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Production and Wide Format Team to prioritize jobs and adapt to deadline changes.
• Communicate with Production Management to ensure sales and customer objectives are met.
• Comply with OHSA safety requirements and maintain a clean work area.
• Set up and maintain equipment for daily production cycles.
• Submit files using RIP/imposition software to required equipment.
• Operate printing equipment (SwissQ Nyala Led, HP Latex 360, Epson Stylus Pro).
• Operate cutting/finishing equipment (Zund S3, Trotec Speedy 400, Arkane Laminator).
• Coordinate with Service Team and Production Management to ensure job understanding.
• Ensure customer expectations for job specs and quality are met.

Job description

We are looking for a Wide Format Printing and Finisher Operator to join our Production department. Reporting directly to the Production Management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and efficiency of our wide format equipment. You will be required to complete daily/weekly printing and finishing in compliance with job specification that meets Italics high quality standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• 2 - 5 Years of relevant experience in print production
• Ability to follow standards and procedures
• Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
• High school level mathematics - understanding of unit measurement conversion (feet into inches)
• Strong attention to detail
• Working as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Problem solving and mechanical ability
• Must be open and adept at learning new equipment and new technologies
• Must be able to maintain flexible work hours and be available for overtime as needed

Responsibilities

General and Administrative

• Coordinate with Production and Wide Format Team to produce and prioritize jobs and reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates
• Communicate effectively with Production Management team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that both sales and customer objectives are met
• Comply with all OHSA safety requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Printing and Finishing Operations

• Responsible for setting up and maintaining equipment for daily production cycle
• Submission of files using RIP and imposition software, to necessary equipment
• Operating printing equipment, including SwissQ Print Nyala Led, HP Latex 360, Epson Stylus Pro
• Operating cutting and finishing equipment, such as Zund S3, Trotec Speedy 400, Arkane 65\" Laminator, etc. as needed to complete the job
• Communicate with Service Team and Production Management team to ensure a complete understanding of the job
• Ensuring customers' expectations are met in regard to job specifications and quality

Equipment and Supplies

• Clean and maintain equipment following supplied maintenance procedures
• Understand and perform troubleshooting procedures
• Ensure press supplies are available and ready to use
• Maintain an organized inventory of stock and material

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift materials up to 50lbs
• Must be able to work on your feet for majority of work day
• Working in a loud and busy manufacturing environment
