Job summary

Niagara College invites applications for the position of Professor, Welding at the Welland Campus, commencing October 2026. The role focuses on academic leadership, curriculum development, teaching welding courses, and collaboration with industry partners to ensure student success.

The successful candidate will bring a strong welding background, post-secondary teaching experience, and a commitment to health and safety in line with Ontario regulations.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Qualification – 456A Welder, 308A Metal Fitter Fabricator, or 433A Industrial Millwright Mechanic.
• Minimum of five years of practical experience with welding functions.
• Demonstrated competency in curriculum design, delivery and evaluation at the post secondary level is preferred.
• Experience teaching or training adults would be considered an asset.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient with standard computer software applications.
• Strong commitment to health and safety, with knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety legislation and safe work practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, industry and community partners.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and support diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership and develop an effective learning environment for students.
• Design, revise and update courses/curriculum; teach assigned courses.
• Consult with stakeholders (faculty, community and industry partners).
• Define course objectives and evaluate student comprehension of objectives.
• Utilize a variety of instructional media/resources; provide individualized instruction where necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
