Job summary

Silent-Aire is seeking a Welding Manufacturing & Quality Supervisor to ensure CWB compliance across all welding operations. You will lead CWB audits, maintain welding standards, and drive improvements to sustain accreditation while supporting safe, compliant production.

The role requires strong leadership, proven experience with CWB, and ability to coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to close findings and maintain audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5–7 years in welding fabrication quality control with direct CWB exposure.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate quarterly CWB audits; liaise with auditors.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits as required by CWB standards.
  • Identify, document, and own all audit findings; maintain nonconformance records.
  • Develop, implement, and track corrective actions to closure; verify effectiveness.
  • Maintain continuous audit readiness across welding operations and related processes.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure proper welding symbols, requirements, and specifications.
  • Validate compliance with codes and standards; ensure WPS/PQR alignment.
  • Collaborate with design/engineering to resolve discrepancies and identify gaps.
  • Maintain welder qualifications and certifications; oversee testing and records.
  • Identify and certify new welding requirements; coordinate WPS updates.
  • Implement new or revised welding procedures and ensure workforce competency.
  • Initiate Engineering Change Requests with welding implications; collaborate with teams.
  • Ensure welding requirements are defined and compliant; verify changes are documented.
  • Maintain all documentation required for CWB certification; audit-ready records.
  • Establish a structured documentation control system.
  • Identify gaps in welding, fabrication, and quality; lead improvement initiatives.
  • Improve compliance, audit performance, and reduce rework/defects.
  • Support production teams in resolving quality and compliance issues.
  • Escalate critical compliance risks; ensure issues are corrected before production resumes.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to supervisors, welders, and quality personnel.
  • Ensure teams understand welding standards and CWB expectations.
  • Support a compliance-focused culture within the organization.
  • Own and report on KPIs such as audit results, findings, defects, and renewals.
  • Track performance trends and communicate insights to leadership; develop action plans.
  • Full ownership of CWB compliance with leadership support.
  • Accountable for audit outcomes, certification status, and closure of deficiencies.
  • Act as liaison between operations, engineering, and external auditors.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities CWB Compliance & Audits
  • Lead and coordinate quarterly CWB audits; develop audit plans and schedules and liaise with CWB auditors.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits as required by CWB standards.
  • Identify, document, and own all audit findings and deficiencies; maintain nonconformance records.
  • Develop, implement, and track corrective actions to closure; verify effectiveness.
  • Maintain continuous audit readiness across all welding operations and related processes.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure proper welding symbols, requirements, and specifications.
  • Validate compliance with applicable codes and standards; ensure WPS/PQR alignment.
  • Collaborate with design/engineering to resolve discrepancies and identify gaps that could lead to non-compliance or out-of-scope work.
  • Maintain and manage welder qualifications and certifications; oversee required testing and records for CWB compliance.
  • Identify and certify new welding requirements resulting from design changes; coordinate WPS updates.
  • Implement new or revised welding procedures and ensure workforce competency aligns with CWB requirements.
  • Initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) with welding implications; collaborate with engineering/design teams to implement required changes.
  • Ensure welding requirements are clearly defined and compliant; verify changes are validated and fully documented before release to production.
  • Maintain all documentation required for CWB certification (audit records, inspection reports, welder qualification records, welding procedures, etc.).
  • Ensure records are accurate, current, and audit-ready; establish and maintain a structured documentation control system.
  • Identify gaps in welding, fabrication, and quality processes; lead improvement initiatives.
  • Improve compliance to welding standards, audit performance, and reduction of welding-related rework or defects.
  • Support production teams in resolving quality and compliance issues; drive proactive, sustainable solutions.
  • Escalate critical compliance risks to operations leadership immediately; ensure issues are corrected before production resumes.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to supervisors, welders, and quality personnel.
  • Ensure teams understand welding standards, drawing interpretation, and CWB compliance expectations.
  • Support the development of a compliance-focused culture within the organization.
  • Own and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as CWB audit results/compliance scores, number/severity of audit findings, welding-related defects and rework rates, and certification expiry/renewals.
  • Track performance trends and communicate insights to leadership; develop action plans for recurring issues.
  • Full ownership of CWB compliance with the support of leadership.
  • Accountable for audit outcomes, certification status, and closure of all identified deficiencies.
  • Act as the primary liaison between operations, engineering, and external auditors; harmonizes production, quality, and design efforts.
Preferred Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years in welding fabrication quality control, with direct exposure to CWB-compliant operations.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience is required.
Certifications & Knowledge
  • CWB Weld supervisor tickets is a must (Steel and Aluminum)
  • CWB-related certifications or substantial experience with CWB requirements; knowledge of welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualification tests.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CSA W59, CSA W47.1, CSA W128, ASME BPVC II, VIII, IX, ISO 9001 and relevant welding and fabrication standards).
  • Experience with QMS methods (CAPA, nonconformance, corrective action tracking) and audit management.
Skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; data-driven with the ability to drive corrective actions.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Proficient in documenting and maintaining controlled records; comfortable with change management.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Safety, and Supply Chain.
Technical Proficiencies
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, QMS software, document control systems, and audit-tracking tools.
  • Proficient in welding processes (MIG/MAG, TIG, Stick) and general fabrication methods.
Physical & Working Conditions
  • Ability to work on a manufacturing shop floor; use of full PPE required.
  • Occasional travel to supplier locations or audit sites may be required (as needed).
Working Hours
  • Regular, In person (Monday through Friday) Day Shift - 40 Hours
Travel
  • Minimal travel anticipated; occasional visits to other sister sites within the country or North America, supplier or customer sites or auditor visits.
