Job description

Procedures Verification Engineer

Company: CWB Group

Compensation: $92,158 - $95,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Approve welding procedure specifications and welding procedure data sheets in accordance with CSA standards, AWS codes, and ISO welding standards.
  • Approve welding procedure qualification records for accuracy in accordance with CWB Group Work Instructions and relevant welding standards.
  • Review procedures qualification records to verify specified parameters on a welding procedure data sheet, assess weld profile and mechanical test results, and suggest adjustments to welding parameters or provide final approval based on testing.
  • Witness electrode certification tests at client facilities and be present during all welding of test assemblies.
  • Review and comprehend testing requirements described in welding consumable standards and specifications prior to the testing session.
  • Communicate test requirements to the client and ensure that all test assemblies are as required.
  • Record all testing details in eCorp, documenting testing parameters, measuring equipment usage, and visual assessments of the test assembly during and upon completion.
  • Maintain electrode client information in CWB database.
  • Manage additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by CWB.
Qualifications
  • University Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, or Welding.
  • 2-5 years in the welding/fabrication industry.
  • Technical background and knowledge of the welding and joining industry.
  • Must have knowledge of welding and testing standards and must be organized with superior time management skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating environment.
  • Valid driver’s license in the province of employment; vehicle ownership is mandatory, and travel is required.
  • Willingness to travel outside Canada.
  • 2-5 years as a Welding Engineer or Technologist (asset).
  • Current standing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in minimum one province (asset).
  • Certified W178.2 Level 1 or 2 Inspector, or eligible to obtain Level 1 within the probationary period (asset).
  • Bilingual in French and English (asset).
  • Experience in conducting quality system audits, NDT and mechanical testing (asset).
