All-Equip/Platinum Trailers is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter to join our team in St. Marys, ON. You’ll work across production and custom fabrication, welding aluminum and steel and reading blueprints to ensure precise assemblies.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years welding/fitting experience in fabrication or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in aluminum and steel welding; MIG required, TIG a strong asset.
• Strong reading of drawings, layout, tolerances, and assembly checks.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for production and custom projects.
• Fit, assemble, and weld aluminum and steel components with precision and proper tolerances.
• Perform production welding on repeat‑run trailer components with consistent quality.
• Support custom fabrication and prototyping by building one‑offs and test assemblies.
• Collaborate with engineering to solve fit‑up challenges and refine designs.
• Choose welding processes (MIG/TIG) based on material and project needs.
• Use jigs/fixtures and measuring tools to ensure repeatability and accuracy.

Welder/Fitter:

The Opportunity:

If you’re an experienced welder who wants more than running the same bead all day, this shop is different. At All‑Equip and Platinum Trailers, you’ll work in a genuinely mixed environment — production runs, custom one‑offs, prototype builds — where the work is varied, the standards are high, and your full range of skills gets used. We’re looking for someone who has put in the time, knows the craft, and is ready to work somewhere their experience actually matters.

Work Arrangement:

Full‑Time, Fully On‑site, Monday to Friday, day shift depending on production needs. This is hands‑on assembly work in a busy manufacturing environment.

Compensation:

This is a hourly position paying $22-$34/hr depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including Extended Health Care, Dental, and RRSP contributions. Overtime is available for those who want it.

The Role:

As a Welder/Fitter at All‑Equip, you’ll work across both production and custom fabrication — one day building repeat‑run trailer components, the next fitting up a one‑off prototype or tackling a custom order that hasn’t been built before. The work is diverse by design: we build what others won’t, which means we need welders who are genuinely skilled, not just fast.

In a typical week, you’ll move between production welding, custom fit‑up and fabrication, and hands‑on problem‑solving with our engineering and fabrication teams. It’s a role that suits people who take pride in their craft and thrive when no two days are quite the same.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for both production builds and custom projects.
• Fit, assemble, and weld aluminum and steel components with precision — proper alignment, tolerances, and structural integrity every time.
• Perform production welding on repeat‑run trailer components while maintaining consistent quality and efficiency.
• Support custom fabrication and prototyping by building one‑off parts, test assemblies, and new design concepts.
• Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to solve fit‑up challenges and refine prototype designs.
• Select appropriate welding processes (MIG/TIG) and parameters based on material type, thickness, and project requirements.
• Use jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools to ensure accurate fit‑up and repeatability.
• Operate fabrication equipment including saws, torches, grinders, hoists, and welding machines.
• Inspect welds and assemblies against internal quality standards and customer specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area — proper PPE and safety procedures are non‑negotiable.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 3–5+ years of welding and fitting experience in a fabrication, trailer, or heavy‑equipment environment.
• Proficiency in aluminum and steel welding — MIG required, TIG a strong asset.
• Strong fitting skills: able to read drawings, lay out parts, check tolerances, and build accurate assemblies.
• Experience in both production and custom fabrication settings.
• Ability to build, modify, or work with jigs and fixtures to support repeatability and accuracy.
• Comfortable with prototyping, one‑off builds, and solving fit‑up challenges on the fly.
• Physically able to lift, bend, stand, and work in a shop environment for extended periods.
• Solid understanding of weld quality standards, distortion control, and proper heat management.
• Strong problem‑solving instincts and attention to detail.
• Genuine pride in the quality of your work.

Education & Certifications:

• Completion of a welding apprenticeship or equivalent trade certification required.
