Job summary

Lake Excavating Ltd. in Williams Lake, BC is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our growing team and work on heavy‑duty construction equipment. You will perform welding, fabrication, and repairs with limited supervision in a fast‑paced, safety‑conscious environment.

We offer a desirable 5 days on, 2 days off schedule, long‑term employment, and benefits after 3 months of continued employment. This role is based in Williams Lake with local travel within the Cariboo region.

Qualifications

• Three plus years’ welding experience.
• Experience welding on heavy‑duty construction equipment.
• Familiar with Job Hazard assessments.
• Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol pre-screen.

Responsibilities

• Conduct welding for general fabrication and repairs for heavy duty construction equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and welding process specifications to weld custom metal products.
• Operate flame cutting tools.
• Assemble items as instructed.
• Maintain/repair tools and equipment; complete work reports and maintenance logs.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure good welding practices.

Candidates should demonstrate a history of skilled experience performing welding, fabricating, and welding repairs on heavy duty construction equipment buckets, blades, boxes and other related ancillary equipment with limited supervision and direction.

General Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct welding for general fabrication and repairs for heavy duty construction equipment
• Follow safety procedures and ensure good welding practices
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor or management to determine whether to repair or replace unit
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and welding process specifications to weld custom metal products
• Operate flame cutting tools
• Assemble items as instructed
• Clean tools and equipment check for defects, maintain/repair as required
• Accurately complete all work reports and maintenance logs
• Communicate with co-workers
• Regularly perform Safety inspection of equipment
• Follow equipment maintenance schedule and advise if repair required
• Perform other related tasks as needed

Location: Williams Lake and Cariboo Region, British Columbia - Primarily in work yard and local project locations
