Job summary

Almex Canada, part of the Almex Group, seeks a skilled welder to join our production team. This role emphasizes MIG/TIG welding of aluminum and other metals, reading weld symbols and blueprints, and ensuring parts meet exact specifications.

You will set up welders, adjust heat and speed, use hand tools and measuring instruments, operate secondary machines, and perform preventive maintenance. Material handling, safety, and timely communication with management are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years aluminum welding experience.
• Welding certification is a plus.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• MIG/TIG welding and metal finishing on varied metals.
• Read and interpret weld symbols and blueprints.
• Set up welder and adjust heat, speed, and feed.
• Use hand tools and measuring devices.
• Operate secondary machines (drill press, shear, saw).
• Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Material handling of stock and parts.
• Maintain safety and clean work area and report status to management.
• Ensure product quality and reject out-of-spec items.

Responsibilities:

• MIG/TIG welding and metal finishing
• Works with various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and sheet metal
• Read and interpret weld symbols and blueprints
• Ability to setup and adjust welder (heat, speed, feed, etc.)
• Proficient with hand and measuring tools (hammer, saw, caliper, square, grinder, etc.)
• Ability to use secondary machines such as drill press, shear, saw, etc.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on production line machinery or tools
• Material handling of bar stock or sheet stock
• Ensure all safety protocols are observed while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.
• Timely and professional communication with management on the status of daily tasks and requests.
• Responsible for quality control. Make necessary adjustments to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications (check with supervisors)
• Operate forklift, overhead cranes, or mobile yard cranes (if qualified)

Requirements:

• Welding certification is a plus.

• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform tasks that require manual labor.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
• Overtime may be required.
