Job summary

Cheticamp Boatbuilders is hiring a Welder/Fabricator/Mechanic in Nova Scotia to join our marine fabrication team. The role requires transferring detailed sketches from AutoCAD into fabrication, welding, and installing components on boats.

We value the ability to work in physically demanding environments, in confined spaces, and in a small team or independently, with cross-training in fiberglass and painting as schedules allow.

Qualifications

• Red Seal welder or comparable level of experience.
• Capable of physically demanding labour, long hours and sometimes compromising positions.
• Willing to work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Transfer detailed sketches and AutoCAD designs to the fabrication process.
• Plan, fabricate, and weld intricate boat components.
• Install newly fabricated/repaired components to boats
• Repair components aboard boats
• Operate mobile welding machine aboard vessels
• Capable and comfortable driving company vehicles while towing and carrying mobile gear
• Cross training in fiberglass and painting as project schedules demand.

Full-time, permanent position.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Transfer detailed sketches and AutoCAD designs to the fabrication process.
• Plan, fabricate, and weld intricate boat components.
• Install newly fabricated/repaired components to boats
• Repair components aboard boats
• Operate mobile welding machine aboard vessels
• Capable and comfortable driving company vehicles while towing and carrying mobile gear
• Will require cross training in fiberglass and painting as project schedules demand.

Skills And Requirements

• Competent and confident in the 4 primary forms of welding (MIG/TIG/SMAW/FCAW)
• Capable of physically demanding labour, long hours, and sometimes compromising positions
• Willing to work in confined spaces
• Comfortable and capable of working as a team/tandem/solo

Education

• We require a Red Seal welder, or of a comparable level of experience.
