Job summary

Velocity Machining & Welding in Dartmouth, NS is seeking an experienced Welder to join our fabrication shop. This full-time, in-person role requires reading drawings, applying welding techniques, and maintaining safety and quality on every job.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of welding experience (NOC 72106) and FCAW certification (CWB). Strong English communication, safety awareness, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are essential. Compensation is 27–29 CAD per hour.

Full Job Description

We are seeking a Welder to join our Welding & Fabrication shop. This is an opportunity for an experienced welder to work with a dedicated team producing high-quality fabricated products while maintaining Velocity Machining & Welding's commitment to precision, safety, and customer satisfaction.

About the Role

As a Welder, you'll be responsible for accurately welding a variety of metal/steel products for fabrication based on assigned work orders. You will utilize various welding techniques, work safely to meet production targets, and avoid waste. This role requires a strong focus on accuracy, precision, and quality workmanship while working independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Review work orders and read and interpret drawings for clear understanding before commencing welding.
  • Accurately welding a variety of metal/steel products in a safe manner using various welding techniques.
  • Conduct quality checks during and upon completion of work to ensure conformance with specified requirements.
  • Ensure the workstation and work area are tidy, safe, and clean. This would include work vehicles.
  • Store tools and equipment in assigned locations within the shop when you have finished using them.
  • Prepare, complete, and provide the shop supervisor with a copy of the damage report for any damaged, lost tools and/or equipment to have these items removed from the shop floor.
  • Prepare, complete, and provide the shop supervisor with a copy of the vehicle maintenance report after using the work vehicle.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures that are implemented within the shop.
  • Work in a respectful, inclusive, and cooperative manner to allow for positive team spirit and to meet the company's goals and objectives.
  • Comply with all regulations and policies when working off-site and professionally representing the company.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and work to improve the company's performance.
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications Required
  • Minimum 2 year as a welder (NOC 72106).
  • Ideal candidate will have a FCAW ticket from CWB.
  • Demonstrated focus on producing quality work on time and with precision.
  • Highly proactive, organized, and able to work independently to achieve the assigned tasks.
  • Responsive, respectful, and capable of following directions to work within a team dynamic.
  • Strong English communication skills - written, understanding and verbal.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to comply with Company's policies and procedures.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs unassisted.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs (23 kg) unassisted.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and stand for over 3 hours at a time.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to natural and environmental elements such as noise, dust, dirt, water, sharp objects, small spaces, and odours.
