Job summary

GreenFirst Forest Products in Cochrane, Ontario is seeking a Welder (Weekend Crew) to fabricate, install and repair equipment requiring welding in the sawmill. The role includes analyzing breakdowns and major repairs to keep production moving safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has a two-year welder credential (Red Seal preferred), 3+ years in manufacturing, and a commitment to safety and quality. Bilingual English/French is a plus; starting wage is CAD 39.21 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two-year welder training or equivalent recognized license.
• Red Seal welding certificate preferred.
• At least 3 years welding experience in manufacturing.
• Commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work as a positive, effective team member and maintain quality.

Responsibilities

• Participate in reliability and planning of welding work to optimize productivity, quality and efficiency.
• Support maintenance for repair, modification, installation and fabrication.
• Identify solutions to reduce failures and downtime.
• Promote a safe working environment and support health and safety programs.
• Maintain clear communications to keep staff informed.
• Work with minimal supervision and collaborate with other trades.
• Safely and efficiently operate welding tools, hand tools, power tools and measurement devices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
