Job summary

John Ross & Sons Ltd. in Halifax is seeking a safety-minded welder to join our team. You will operate semi-automatic welding equipment, perform fabrication and repair work, and help maintain a clean, safe work environment in all weather conditions.

This full-time position offers health, dental and vision benefits, RRSP match, a company bonus and PPE provided. Hours are Mon-Fri 7 AM–5 PM with occasional Saturdays; eligible candidates must be authorized to work in Canada.

Qualifications

• Completion of college/technical training or a combination of training and experience.
• Previous fabrication experience is an asset.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently.
• Must be comfortable wearing full PPE while on shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate semi-automatic welding equipment to weld metal segments using SMAW, FCAW, pre-heating, tack welding, torch cutting, and flame cutting.
• Welding, fabrication, and repair of various equipment.
• Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
• Perform minor repairs to equipment.
• Assist machine operators and other production staff as needed.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
• Upholding safety procedures.
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management.
• Other labor duties as necessary.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate semi-automatic welding equipment to weld metal segments using processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), pre-heating, tack welding, torch cutting, and flame cutting
• Welding, fabrication, and repair of various equipment
• Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
• Perform minor repairs to equipment
• Assist machine operators and other production staff as needed.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Upkeeping safety procedures
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to management
• Other labor duties as necessary

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7 AM - 5 PM and rotational Saturdays as required

Payrate: To be negotiated depending on experience
