Job summary

Goldfish Swim School – Grand Rapids is hiring a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Responsibilities include surveillance of guests, emergency care, and communicating rules effectively. Candidates should have experience working with children, excellent communication skills, and pass background checks. Job description

Role: Lifeguard

Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of Goldfish Swim School – Grand Rapids by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of guests in the event of an accident or emergency.
• Communicates the rules of the facility to patrons fairly and consistently.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Ensures medical services are contacted by the most appropriate means when necessary to respond to an emergency.
• Advances through cross‑training in multiple roles and substitutes when necessary.
• Provides a Golden Experience to students, families, and team members.

Job Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to work with children.
• Prior related leadership and teaching experience is preferred (supervisory roles).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass background examinations prior to training.

Safety Standards

Goldfish Swim School follows CDC, WHO safety standards and local guidelines. Safety precautions include on‑staff cleaning of high‑touch areas, chlorine disinfection of pools, and state‑of‑the‑art ventilation.
