Job summary

Ackard Contractors Ltd. is seeking a Lead Hand Carpenter to lead residential renovation projects in the Edmonton area. This hands-on leadership role combines on-site carpentry with team mentorship to deliver high-quality workmanship on schedule.

You will coordinate daily site activities, read blueprints, and ensure safety and efficiency while maintaining strong communication with homeowners and trades. 

Qualifications

• Proven experience in residential carpentry, particularly renovation projects.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to guide, motivate, and hold a team accountable.
• Excellent reading of blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Great communication with site teams, homeowners, and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example while performing carpentry and construction work alongside the crew.
• Coordinate daily site activities, labour, materials, and trade partners to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Mentor apprentices and support the growth and development of team members.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism on site.
• Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and layouts.
• Identify and resolve day-to-day construction challenges to maintain productivity.
• Communicate effectively with Site Supervisors, the Project Manager, homeowners, and trade partners.
• Take ownership of project outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement on site.
