Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of project vehicles and equipment by executing expertise in repairing all types of vehicles and equipment through inspection and servicing of all vehicles, holding performance testing, and replacing or repairing defective vehicle components. Diagnoses operational issues and ensures compliance with provincial requirements.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Thoroughly inspect vehicles and equipment, detect malfunctions or damages, and perform repairs or replacements using proper tools and equipment.
  2. Order necessary spare parts and ensure timely procurement.
  3. Diagnose problems and vehicle operation issues; recommend parts replacements or other necessary services.
  4. Maintain accurate daily maintenance records and prepare cost estimates for repairs and service requests.
  5. Ensure all company vehicles and equipment pass safety inspections and comply with provincial standards and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with customers and employees.
  2. Ability to detect malfunctions; proficient in using repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery.
  3. Strong understanding of current principles, techniques, and practices in vehicle repair and maintenance, including electronic/electrical and hydraulic systems.
  4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; well-versed in using technical service manuals.
  5. Knowledge of snow removal equipment, sander controllers, loaders, graders, backhoes is an asset.
  6. Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors.

Education And Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 5+ years of experience.
  3. 310T Certification required, with a valid Driver's License in good standing.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands

  1. Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  2. Work indoors in a shop environment.
