Wealth Management Compliance – Director (Hybrid)

Role Overview

Professionals within Legal and Compliance provide a wide range of services to our business units. They help structure complex cross-border transactions, advise on new product introductions, develop training programs, and review client disputes. They preserve the firm's reputation for integrity and protect it from sanctions by developing policies that meet global regulatory requirements. They also maintain cooperative relationships with governmental and regulatory agencies.

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the successful candidate will assist the Canada Wealth Management business in managing regulatory risks and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, rules, and internal policies. The Canadian Wealth Management division includes three business lines that allow residents to invest through Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Canada Inc., a CIRO Registered Investment Dealer. Additionally, the role involves providing compliance coverage for Morgan Stanley at Work, the Canadian Stock Plan Administration business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the Business Unit on all regulatory compliance matters.
  • Assess and interpret regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with Wealth Management management on new business proposals.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct field training on compliance policies and procedures.
  • Perform ongoing compliance oversight, testing, and reporting to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain compliance reporting metrics.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial services, compliance, or related fields, or experience with securities regulators in wealth management.
  • Management experience.
  • Knowledge of CIRO and CSA rules, regulations, and national instruments.
  • Understanding of Order Execution Only regulations and practices.
  • Experience working directly with advisors and regulatory agencies such as CIRO and OBSI.
Additional Information

All positions are based in Toronto, Ontario, with a hybrid work environment combining remote and in-office work. Fluency in English and French is required.
