The Compliance Associate, with guidance from the Manager of Compliance, will be responsible for performing fieldwork related to independent testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and supporting audit procedures for external auditors during quarterly, interim, and year-end financial statement audits. The role also involves supporting various compliance programs, business improvement initiatives, and ad-hoc compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and update testing procedures for ICFR to mitigate risks, including identifying key risks, assessing controls, and implementing corrective actions.
2. Perform independent control testing for approximately 20 financial cycles, such as Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Treasury, and others.
3. Validate observations and remediation activities with control owners for effective risk management.
4. Prepare monthly reports on compliance status for internal stakeholders, highlighting concerns and opportunities for improvement.
5. Support external auditors during financial process walk-throughs and testing procedures to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
6. Assist in gathering relevant data and documents from business units for audit purposes.
7. Help validate the completion of management action plans for various compliance reviews.
8. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of controls, processes, and documentation; support related projects.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Business or related field.
• Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certified Internal Auditor credentials in progress (preferably with CFE completion).
• At least three years of experience in external or internal audit environments.
• Preference for candidates with experience in large public firms or internal audit roles.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Ability to build relationships across business units.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with multi-tasking ability.

Toronto Hydro offers a Hybrid Work Arrangement, allowing remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Candidates should reside in Ontario within reasonable commuting distance.
