Job summary

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Waterworks Labourer to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of municipal water and wastewater systems. The successful candidate will work as part of a crew responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted water services to the community.

The ideal candidate has a Grade 12 education, 3–5 years of labour experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous construction or utility labour experience considered an asset.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
• Knowledge of safe trenching and excavation practices.
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call shifts.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, and sewer systems.
• Perform manual excavation, trenching, shoveling, and backfilling.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Direct traffic and ensure worksite safety in accordance with regulations.
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Respond to emergency water main breaks or service disruptions as required.
• Follow all occupational health and safety guidelines.
